Top Gear showcased co-host Chris Harris whip out a certain bank card as he tries to rent a car.

Alongside co-hosts Paddy McGuiness and Freddie Flintoff, he was given a budget for their rental cars. They all tackled Astra car rental at an airport in Cyprus – but Chris shocked his driving buddies soon after.

Getting out a Coutts bank card, he instantly catches Paddy’s attention. So what is the “Queen’s bank” card that Chris Harris owns? We explored exactly what it is!

Who is Chris Harris from Top Gear?

Chris is a 45-year-old British automotive journalist, racing driver and television presenter.

He has worked as a reviewer, writer and editor for several automotive magazines, including Evo, Autocar and Jalopnik. Chris, who was born in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, made several appearances as a presenter for the car series back in 2016, but was promoted to a main presenter after Chris Evans resigned.

The racing driver doesn’t just stop at television, as he has his own Youtube channel Chris Harris on Cars which has an impressive 453,000 subscribers!

What is a Coutts bank card?

During episode 3 of series 29, Paddy sees Chris’ bank card and responds: “Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.”

He continues:

Coutts. The Queen’s bank?! Oh, may I touch this card? Put us all on the Coutts card.

Then, Paddy calls Chris “posher than ever”. Looking at the Coutts website, it is recognised as the best private bank in the UK (2019).

It states that it “provides modern banking underpinned by a renowned tradition of service”. The Royal Family are notable clients at Coutts bank – which is known as the Queen’s bank.

Chris Harris: Net worth

Prospective clients at Coutts need at least £1,000,000 in investable assets, which don’t include real estate. So we Chris having an account with them says it all!

It was reported that the driver’s Youtube channel alone has a net worth of $29,000 in October 2020, according to statsmash.com.

While hotcars.com have said he allegedly earns between $500,000 to $1 million on Top Gear, which is equivalent to around £384,687 to £769,375.
