AEW presented a big show for Double or Nothing in Las Vegas on June 28th, but the main event match didn’t go off as they 100% wanted it to. It turns out that the T-Mobile Arena rejected a few ideas for the main event match.

The T-Mobile Arena also plays host to the Las Vegas Golden Knights. That NHL team is having a great season, and they are en route to the Stanley Cup finals. That was a big deal for Knights fans, but it didn’t help AEW much.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that AEW got a late start in setting up for Double or Nothing because of the Golden Knights hockey game. They also had several ideas for Anarchy in the Arena that just didn’t fly with the venue.

They didn’t have the preparation time as they did for Anarchy in the Arena last year, nor did the production team, because the Las Vegas Golden Knights had a playoff game the night before in the building.

So that delayed moving all the production in as compared to a usual show.

Last year for the match, the group came in the night before to scout out the arena for ideas and this year that wasn’t possible.

In addition, the T Mobile Arena gave the company limitations for the match and a lot of ideas were shut down by the building because of things that happened in last year’s match.

The exact rejected spots were not noted in the report. We can only imagine what they had in their heads that the arena wouldn’t allow.

AEW Double or Nothing still ended with an exciting match, and fans got a lot of blood as well. Hopefully, they were able to present something close to what they originally intended. It was certainly a show that fans in Las Vegas won’t soon forget.
